WLCG Tier-2
The Tier-2 Service is provided to ATLAS and LHCb as part of the Worldwide LHCb Computing Grid (WLCG), and to other experiments and projects supported by its UK partner, GridPP. The service is funded by STFC via GridPP.
We also host the GridPP web server (since the start of the project in 2001) and the GridPP VOMS service which provides membership services for many smaller grid projects.
IRIS Service
The IRIS Service is largely compatible with WLCG but supports a wider range of Particle Physics and Astronomy projects (including DUNE and SKA) and a wider range of platforms, including very high memory nodes and GPUs. The service is funded by STFC via IRIS.
We also host the IRIS web server.
Manchester Analysis Facility
The MAF provides grid-compatible batch processing and storage to members of the Manchester Particle Physics Group, and is funded by the University and various individual grants awarded to group members.
Tier-3 Service
The Tier-3 provides interactive services and has evolved from the introduction of HP and DEC unix workstations in the 1990s. It now shares hardware and software management systems with the other components of the Blackett Computing Facility.
